Today’s Homily: From Blindness to Sonship: A Lenten Scrutiny of the Heart

Homily for Wednesday Lent IV. At St. Paul’s Basilica, the Church recalls the ancient scrutiny of catechumens and their reception of the Pater Noster—a sign of spiritual enlightenment. The healing of the blind man in John 9 mirrors the baptismal grace that gives true sight, while Ezechiel foretells this cleansing and renewal of heart. St. Francis of Paola reminds us that holiness requires poverty and humility. Lent calls us to be scrutinized anew, that we may truly see and live as sons of the Father.
