Today’s homily: The Patronage of St Joseph, Spouse of the BVM

On this first Sunday of Pope Leo XIV’s pontificate, the Church honours the Patronage of St Joseph, protector of the Universal Church. Instituted in 1847 by Pius IX, this feast reminds us to go to Joseph in times of trial. In an age of confusion and reform, his silence, fidelity, and strength guide us. The Last Gospel (John 16) assures us that present sorrow will become joy — a mystery Joseph lived daily. Let us trust him to guard Christ’s Church once more.
