The Octave Day of St John the Baptist recalls his prophetic mission, foretold by Isaias and fulfilled in the naming and circumcision on the eighth day. His hidden life prepared him to proclaim Christ boldly. Like John, we are called to decrease so that Christ may increase, embracing silence, penance, and witness. Today marks the end of his octave, yet the call to prepare the way of the Lord continues in every Christian soul.https://selsey.org/2025/06/28/nuntiatoria-lx-missio-fidelis/

St Paul’s conversion reveals the divine origin of the Gospel and the radical transformation grace works in the soul. Not taught by men, but by Christ Himself, Paul becomes the model of true apostleship: born in silence, formed in suffering, and sustained by the Spirit. Sent as a lamb among wolves, he bears witness through persecution and death. His life teaches us to receive, live, and proclaim the Gospel with courage, charity, and unwavering fidelity.https://selsey.org/2025/06/28/nuntiatoria-lx-missio-fidelis/

On the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, the Church honours the twin pillars of Apostolic faith: Peter, the rock of unity, and Paul, the missionary firebrand. Their lives—marked by repentance, bold preaching, and martyrdom—model faithful service and divine mercy. The readings remind us that grace rescues the repentant and multiplies the faithful. Commemorating the Third Sunday after Pentecost, we recall that heaven rejoices more over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just.https://selsey.org/2025/06/28/nuntiatoria-lx-missio-fidelis/

The Sacred Heart reveals Christ’s infinite love poured out for all through His pierced side—blood and water, the Church’s life. Against cold heresies like Calvinism and Jansenism, this feast proclaims divine mercy, calling us to Eucharistic adoration and reparation. To love the Sacred Heart is to be conformed to it: to forgive, suffer, and serve as Christ did. “Behold the Heart that has so loved men.” Let us return love for love.https://selsey.org/2025/06/20/nuntiatoria-lx-fidelis-restauratio/#the-feast-of-the-sacred-heart-of-jesus-friday-after-the-octave-of-corpus-christi

On this Octave Day of Corpus Christi and feast of Saints John and Paul, we reflect on the Eucharist as the source of martyrdom and the sanctification of the domestic church. These Roman martyrs bore witness in their own home, showing that true fidelity begins in the family. Fed by the Bread of Life, they feared not death but dishonour. So must our families be sanctuaries of truth, confessing Christ boldly, that He may acknowledge us before the angels of God.https://selsey.substack.com/p/the-rule-of-feeling-how-emotionalism

What does it mean to say that every human life has value—no matter how small, how old, how dependent, or how unseen? This reflection begins not with dogma, but with the quiet dignity of being human. https://selsey.substack.com/p/the-forgotten-premise-of-equality

The Nativity of St John the Baptist proclaims that every life is willed by God and called to a purpose. John was known, named, and sent from the womb—a pattern true for each soul. In discerning and surrendering to God’s will, we find our true vocation. Amidst recent UK laws permitting abortion to birth and moves toward assisted suicide, the Church must witness to the sanctity of life from conception to natural death, echoing John's call to prepare the way of the Lord.https://selsey.substack.com/p/legally-dead-the-collapse-of-moral

Today, in the Octave of Corpus Christi, we honour Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist while commemorating the Vigil of St John the Baptist, the great Forerunner. St Paul warns us to receive worthily, discerning the Body of the Lord, while St John calls us to prepare our hearts with humility and repentance. As John leapt in the womb before the hidden Christ, so must we approach the altar with reverence, that Christ may truly abide in us, and we in Him.https://selsey.org/2025/06/20/nuntiatoria-lx-fidelis-restauratio/

Corpus Christi Homily

Thursday Jun 19, 2025

Today we celebrate with great joy the Feast of Corpus Christi, honouring the true Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. Instituted on Maundy Thursday but celebrated today with due solemnity, this feast reminds us that Holy Communion is real union with Christ, transforming us into living tabernacles. We are called to holiness, to mission, and to invite others into this saving communion with God. Let us never take this gift for granted.

Today’s Mass honours St. Basil the Great, bishop, theologian, and defender of life and truth. He opposed heresy, served the poor, and upheld the dignity of every person. This Mass is offered for the defeat of Amendments NC1 and NC20 to the Criminal Justice Bill, which would legalise abortion up to birth. Like Basil, we must speak boldly for life, uphold sound doctrine, and be true disciples of Christ—salt that has not lost its savour. St. Basil, pray for England.https://selsey.org/2025/06/13/nuntiatoria-lix-tradere-quod-et-accepi/
